The Entryway
By coupling Getty House's English Tudor architecture with the Southern California lifestyle, the entry accommodates comfortable formality while setting the tone for the rest of the house.

To express a courteous neutrality to the adjoining rooms, entry walls are a light shade of taupe with all woodwork, including the timber ceiling, finished out in soft white enamel. The ceiling of the vestibule to the dining room has been gently decorated to articulate its graceful vaulting.

Hung on the stairway wall is a Dana Torrey plein air style painting (48" x 85"). The image reflects the values of Mayor Richard Riordan and was created specifically for the Getty House. This painting focuses on a mother's dream of her child's future and the mayor's desire to educate all the children of Los Angeles to be potential leaders in creating a safe, beautiful city of opportunity.
