His current exhibit includes truly demonstrates his eye for design and color. Torrey at Resident Artist Reception

Dana Torrey, who introduced his latest series of paintings at Mayor Richard Riordan's house, will be the guest of honor at the Resident Artist Reception on October 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the library.

"Plein air is all about color," explained Torrey. "I splash my canvases with color-cyan, yellow, magenta, and from there work out the overall tone I'm looking for." Torrey looked all over Los Angeles for two months for the best structural images. "I wanted to combine the techniques of light, shade, haze and the color system that would work. I then took photographs of the landscapes and architectural shapes and combined them with sketches in my notebooks to plan out my paintings."

Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
